Cross Marketing with CA Nonprofits: SB 88 to Type 81 Permit Guidelines

California's licensed producers can now consider a new approach to help market and sell their wines direct to consumers. Senate Bill 88 (Chesbro), a Family Winemakers of California-sponsored bill was signed into law September 30, 2003 and becomes effective as of January 1, 2004, under Section 23399.6 of the Business and Professions Code. The new Wine Sales Event Permit (Type 81) will help bring wineries and qualified non-profit groups together by allowing licensed winegrowers to sell a prescribed amount of their bottled wine at specified events for consumption off the event premises.
