As the electricity crunch in California has reached out and touched the entire West, the on-going Northwest salmon crisis now threatens irrigation in the Walla Walla Valley.Steelhead have became a major concern since that fish was listed as a threatened species in March 1999. Serious water and fish protection issues have converged on the Walla Walla Basin (which straddles Oregon and Washington), including the booming Walla Walla AVA.
