Internship Opportunity at MacRostie Winery:
Harvest Enologist / Lab Intern
We have an exciting opportunity for a Harvest Enologist / Lab Intern to join the MacRostie team, who will learn and execute exceptional skills to assist with the 2023 harvest. This internship will focus on assisting the team in lab activities and quality control for our premium Pinot Noir from our estate vineyards and our other renowned growers at our facility. This role is based in Healdsburg, California and is offering one temporary position.

We also craft Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel for our Clockwise brand with a similar hands-on small-lot approach. 2023年收获,我们正在寻找一个试验enced and talented individual to serve as our Harvest Enologist at our Healdsburg facility alongside the winemaking team. This individual will work closely with our full-time Assistant Winemaker to ensure that necessary sampling and analysis is being performed accurately and assist Cellar team when time allows. As a boutique winery our team works closely together through the harvest assisting each other’s department, which makes a unique experience for the candidate to get to work and see every step of the process.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• In the lab will be tasked to perform pre-bottling analysis
• QC checks during bottling, grape sampling from vineyards throughout Sonoma County, working as a team and independently in the lab measuring Brix/Temperatures of fermentations daily
• Performing daily berry, juice, and wine analyses
• Lab data entry into Microsoft Excel and Vintrace winery software, etc.
• The individual will also be asked to assist with cellar operations as needed with cap management, inoculations and additions, wine transfers, etc.
• These daily tasks will be performed around a core of cleaning duties, preceded and followed by more cleaning.

We are looking for a candidate that has basic knowledge and understanding of the winemaking process, who is dependable to show up to work every day and complete the tasks assigned, that has dependable transportation to/from winery and possibly vineyards for sampling and that works well in a team setting but able to work on tasks alone as well. This essential person will have experience with lab procedures and basic analyses (titrations, pH measurements, etc.), computer proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Excel and Word and will also be able to interpret and communicate clearly results to the winemaking team. This person will also have a strong attention to detail and ability to execute tasks in a timely manner. Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs, stand for long periods of time, and walk-through vineyards and the ability to work long hours at peak times (up to 12 hours a day and 6-7 days a week) – this position will be active between July 1st until the end of November depending on workload. Applicants should be prepared to work a variable schedule and extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
