Tasting Room Manager – Long Shadows Woodinville
Tasting Room Manager – Position Summary
Long Shadows has a unique and exciting opportunity for a seasoned tasting room/restaurant manager as we plan to open a brand new facility in Woodinville in spring 2023.
It is the responsibility of the tasting room manager to provide leadership in the tasting room, to think creatively, develop and implement strategies to increase sales and customer traffic, create and manage a new food program, and to administer the direct-to-consumer program for the Woodinville facility.
The job duties of the Tasting Room Manager include but are not limited to:
Tasting Room Responsibilities
• Host wine tastings
• Manage retail sales in the tasting room
• Recruit, train and provide leadership for the tasting room staff in terms of Long Shadows wine knowledge, POS system, and sales activities
• Ensure the customer experience in the tasting room is consistent with the Long Shadows image
• Create unique food offerings/pairings
• Develop unique customer experiences in addition to traditional tastings
• Provide management with sales results, trends, and plans on a regular basis
• Operationally manage the tasting room business:
o Conduct opening and closing procedures
o Manage on-site inventory of wine and food
o Manage staff scheduling
o Reconcile cash register daily
o Maintain cleanliness standards
o Manage tasting room supplies
• Work with Retail Manager and Wine Club Manager to plan and execute events
Sales and Marketing
• Plan and manage events in the tasting room (i.e., special events, club releases, etc.)
• Attend public wine tastings and winemaker dinners as requested
• Develop and facilitate creative customer experiences to drive traffic and sales
Administration
Tasting Room Sales Administration
• Provide detailed results of all sales efforts to management
• Develop reliable systems to track and manage will call orders, samples, transfers and inventories
• Take the lead for all POS protocols and updates to be implemented in the tasting room and ensure all staff is properly trained on sales tools
Direct To Consumer Sales Administration
• Manage all customer communication
o Respond to customer phone calls, emails, etc.
• Administer the direct wine shipments out of the winery
o Order fulfillment
o Shipping logistics
• Provide staff support as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Wine knowledge and tasting room experience preferred
• Restaurant and/or food management experience preferred
• Management experience required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with both customers and internal senior management
• Strong computer skills. Must be proficient with Excel, Outlook, Word; Orderport a plus
• Strong organizational, problem-solving skills
• Solid time management skills and the ability to prioritize job duties
• Ability to see tasks through completion
• Adaptability, flexibility, independently motivated
• Position includes weekend hours and occasional evenings for events
• Occasionally required to lift 40-lbs
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred
