Job Description:

WEST COAST/WESTERN REGION WINE SALES MANAGER

Established family-owned, highly-regarded, artisan, Northern California winery seeks an highly-motivated and energetic sales person to maintain and grow our brands in the Western US sales market. Our wines receive continual national wine press exposure with enthusiastic reviews and reception. We are looking for someone who is conversant with the world of wine and has experience and the ability to work with 6+ individual distributors with a particular focus on expanding our California sales footprint with our current California distribution company. The job will require about 2/3’s travel time for maintaining distributor relationships in these markets, staying current with our historical retail and on-premise relationships, and motivating and training distributor sales staff about our wines.

We are looking for someone who lives in Northern California.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Working with existing distributors and their sales teams with winery updates, marketing, and collateral sales materials, etc.
• Finding and developing new distribution channels with our winery management team where necessary.
• Compiling sales reports and updates.
• Maintaining and develop existing distributor relationships. Fix problem relationships.
• Coordinating and executing trade events (like tasting events and dinners) in conjunction with travel.
• Analyze sales and depletion reports by compiling, formatting and summarizing information.
• Allocating wines produced to different state sales markets.
• Establishing & maintaining relationships with our wholesale client base both on and off-premise.
• Communicating regularly and creating sales incentives for sales reps and restaurant/retail accounts.

Job Requirements:
• Previous distributor sales and management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for a sales audience.
• Proficient with computers, spreadsheet, and word-processing software.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of chain accounts & restaurant buyers, buying and promotional practices and operational procedures.
• Working knowledge of wine from the world’s major viticulture regions.
• Excellent presentation skills, both verbal and written.
• Outgoing, approachable personality (In this role is you are the “face” of the brand.)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player who can work well with or without supervision.
• Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and respond quickly to demanding situations.
• This position requires the availability to work flexible hours and weekends, when necessary, for tastings & special events.
• Must be able to repetitively lift a minimum of 50 lb. and be physically fit.
• Successful candidate must: be at least 21 years of age; possess a current driver’s license; maintain current auto insurance coverage.
• You will probably live somewhere near a major airline hub like Sacramento, Oakland, or San Francisco for ease of market visits and travel. You will be asked to spend time at the winery, or meet with management regularly to stay up to date, to report, and to interact with other sales staff.
