Cellar Worker

Position Summary:
Sanford was founded in 1980 and was one of the first wineries in the now recognized Sta. Rita Hills. Today, Sanford is known for producing singular wines from the Sanford & Benedict, and La Rinconada Vineyards. Sanford continues its legacy as a family-owned winery of the Terlato Wine Group. The winery, located in Lompoc, CA off Santa Rosa Road, promotes a professional, team-oriented culture focusing on quality and safety in all our efforts. We are a small crew of highly trained and experienced team members who collaborate in a supportive and encouraging culture.
Position Responsibilities:
• Maintains a clean and orderly workspace and environment
• Follows winery, and legal safety policies and procedures
• Safe operation of a forklift to move barrels, fruit bins and equipment in the cellar
• Maintaining proper cellar sanitation, assuring all cellar equipment (tanks, hoses, barrels, working surfaces, equipment, etc.) is properly cleaned before use
• Racking of juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment
• Filling, topping and racking barrels
• Obtaining lab samples
• Operating destemmer, sorting table and presses
• Assist in equipment maintenance

Qualifications:
• Requires 2 years prior, relevant cellar experience
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, as well as able to bend and lift on the job and be able to work safely around equipment, electrical outlets and chemicals.
• Ability to work extended work weeks (especially during harvest) while maintaining a positive attitude and staying on task.
• Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination required
