Antinori acquires majority stake in Friuli Venezia Giulia's Cantina Jermann

Leading Italian wine family Antinori has acquired a majority stake in iconic Italian winery, Cantina Jermann.

Cantina Jermann was founded in 1881 by Anton Jermann; its two estates, Villanova di Farra di Isonzo and Ruttars, and its 170ha of vineyard land have been run by西尔维奥我rmann在过去的40年。

Cantina Jermann is responsible forVintage Tunina, one of Italy's most iconic white wines. First launched in 1975 (from the 1973 vintage), Vintage Tunina is the white equivalent of asupertuscan: a field blend of mainly Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla and Malvasia from a 16ha plot calledRonco del Fortino. The vines are trained according to the "guyot-cappuccina" system, with a density of 6000-7000 per hectare. The wine's name, Tunina, is a tribute to the vineyard's first landlady and to one of Giacomo Casanova’s lovers.

Cantina Jermann joins Antinori's international portfolio of estates, which includes Antica and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in Napa, Col Solare in Washington State, Haras de Pirque in Chile, Meridiana in Malta, Vitis Metamorfosis in Romania, and Tűzkő in Hungary.

In Italy, Antinori owns Tenuta Tignanello, Badia a Passignano, Pèppoli, Antinori in Chianti Classico, Pian delle Vigne in Montalcino, Tenuta Guado al Tasso in Bolgheri, Tenuta Montenisa in Franciacorta, Prunotto in Piedmont, and Castello della Sala in Umbria.
